El significado básico del verbo to make es construir, fabricar algo juntando los componentes (aquí hacen unos pasteles maravillosos, they make marvellous cakes here), obligar (hazle callar, make him shut up) o convertir: Te hará más fuerte. To earn hace referencia a un sueldo o a una recompensa por el trabajo realizado: No se gana mucho trabajando en un bar. You don't earn much working in a bar.
To win se emplea cuando hablamos de competiciones, loterías, concursos, apuestas, guerras, etc.: Ganó un millón en la lotería. He won a million on the lottery. ¿Quién ganó la batalla? Who won the battle?
